DP Mathematics Teacher (Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation)
Position Overview
The DP Mathematics Teacher is responsible for teaching IB Diploma Programme Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches (AA) and/or Mathematics: Applications & Interpretation (AI) at Standard Level (SL) and/or Higher Level (HL). The teacher fosters conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and real-world application in alignment with IB philosophy and assessment requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, teach, and deliver DP Mathematics AA and/or AI courses in accordance with the IB Mathematics subject guides
- Develop inquiry-based, concept-driven lessons that promote critical thinking and mathematical communication
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning needs and abilities
- Integrate technology and appropriate digital tools (e.g., graphing calculators, software) effectively
- Promote academic honesty and ethical use of technology
Assessment & Feedback
- Prepare students for internal assessments (Mathematics IA) in AA and AI
- Guide students through mathematical exploration, modeling, and communication for IA completion
- Apply IB assessment criteria accurately and consistently
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progress
- Prepare students for external examinations and assessment components
- Maintain accurate records of assessment and progress
Student Support & Wellbeing
- Support students in managing academic workload and exam preparation
- Encourage perseverance, resilience, and confidence in mathematical learning
- Provide academic mentoring and intervention when needed
Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with DP colleagues to ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment
- Participate in moderation, standardization, and DP meetings
- Engage in IB professional development and subject-specific training
- Contribute to interdisciplinary learning, Extended Essay supervision, or CAS activities as required
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Teaching certification/licensure (as required by local regulations)
- Experience teaching secondary-level mathematics (ages 16–19)
- Experience teaching IB DP Mathematics AA and/or AI preferred
- Strong understanding of IB assessment practices and use of technology in mathematics
