Job Description

Job Title: Deputy General Manager-Logistics

  • Strategic Logistics & Import/Export Management

    • Develop and execute the overall logistics strategy for the aerospace vertical, aligning with business objectives.
    • Oversee end-to-end import and export operations, ensuring compliance with EOU, SEZ, and customs regulations.
    • Lead the strategic negotiation and management of long-term contracts with global freight forwarders, airlines (for air charter/consolidation), and shipping lines specializing in aerospace cargo.
    • Ensure meticulous management of critical documentation including Airway Bills, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Conformance, Mill Certificates, and other aerospace-specific shipping certifications.
  • Team Leadership & Development

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Define clear KPIs for the team and conduct regular performance reviews.
    • Manage resource planning and allocation to meet fluctuating project demands.
  • Customs, Trade Compliance & Regulatory Affairs

    • Act as the primary point of contact for all customs and regulatory authorities (DGFT, Customs, EOU/SEZ authorities).
    • Ensure 100% compliance with import-export laws, foreign trade policies (FTP), Free Trade Agreements (FTA), and international regulations (FAA, EASA, DGCA).
    • Spearhead internal and external audits related to logistics and trade compliance (AS9100, Customer Audits, Customs Audits).
    • Oversee the management of bonded warehouses and inventory control as per EOU guidelines.
  • Freight Optimization & Cost Management

    • Drive significant cost savings through advanced freight optimization, modal analysis (Air vs. Ocean for non-critical items), and route planning.
    • Analyze the total logistics spend and present strategic cost-saving initiatives to senior management.
    • Prepare and manage the annual logistics budget, ensuring adherence and identifying variances.
  • Stakeholder & Supply Chain Coordination

    • Collaborate closely with Program Management, Planning, Procurement, and Production teams to ensure logistics strategies support master production schedules and project timelines.
    • Interface with global customers (OEMs) and suppliers to align on logistics protocols, packaging standards, and delivery schedules.
    • Manage relationships with key logistics partners, ensuring they meet the stringent quality and security requirements of the aerospace industry.
  • Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

    • Oversee the implementation and optimal utilization of ERP (SAP S/4HANA, MM/SD modules) and specialized logistics platforms.
    • Authorize and present comprehensive MIS reports on logistics performance, including OTD, freight costs, customs clearance times, and carbon footprint.
    • Champion continuous improvement projects (Lean, Six Sigma) within the logistics function to enhance efficiency, reliability, and visibility.


  • Qualifications:

    Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Engineering. MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • 12-18 years

    of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management
  • Proven experience in

    customs clearance, EOU/SEZ procedures, and international freight management for aerospace

Skills and Competencies:

  • Expertise in ERP Systems (SAP S/4HANA, MM Module) and logistics tracking tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of

    international trade compliance

    (FTA, DGFT, AEO, SAFTA, IMO, FEMA) and

    aerospace regulatory requirements

    (AS9100, EASA Part 21G, FAA).
  • Mastery of

    INCOTERMS

    and complex customs clearance processes.
  • Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Advanced Excel, Power BI, and data dashboard creation.
  • Exceptional negotiation and vendor management skills
