Designation : Design Engineer - Centre of Excellence Reporting to : Project Lead Location : Bangalore, Full Time Qualification : Bachelor Engineering or Master’s in Mechanical / Industrial engineering Experience : 2 - 4 Years Position Overview: This is a junior-level design engineering role responsible for leading the development and sustenance engineering of various products. The role involves design, development, and enhancement of existing products, with a strong focus on plastic & Sheetmetal design, manufacturing, and analytical simulation. Required Qualifications: (Education, TechnicalSkills/Knowledge) Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and should have worked on new product development, Sustenance Engineering, PLM & R&D projects. Hands-on experience with plastics and sheet metal, including design principles, material selection, and manufacturing processes such as injection Molding, extrusion, stamping, and forming. Proficiency in 3D CAD software — preferably Creo and SolidWorks—for component design, detailed drawings, and BOM (Bill of Materials) management. Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and engineering change processes (ECR/ECN). Exposure to additional engineering tools such as Autodesk Inventor and Windchill is an added advantage. Experienced in application of GD&T principles and tolerance analysis. Understanding of basic CAE tools and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques for structural validation and design optimization. Strong grasp of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles. Ability to conduct basic research on materials (metals, composites) and processes (welding, forming) to support design decisions. Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams—including suppliers, manufacturing, quality, and procurement—to support scalable and cost-effective product development. Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve field failures, production issues, and customer complaints through corrective and preventive actions. Commitment to continuous improvement, with a strong interest in emerging technologies, manufacturing methods, and material innovations. Nice to have Requirements: Exposure to different international standards (CE/UL & NSF) with respect to product design and testing Exposure to process tools like Six Sigma, APQP, etc. Show more Show less
