Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Conceptualization & Design:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Sales, Production, Quality) to understand product requirements, specifications, and project scope.
• Generate innovative design concepts and solutions using

  CAD software

  ([e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, Creo, Inventor] specify relevant ones).
• Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and assembly designs with appropriate tolerances and material specifications.
• Perform basic engineering calculations (e.g., stress analysis, load calculations, material selection) to validate design integrity.

• Prototyping & Testing Support:

• Collaborate with the prototyping and manufacturing teams to facilitate the creation of prototypes.
• Support testing activities, analyze test data, and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
• Identify potential design flaws and propose effective solutions.

• Documentation & Standardization:

• Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), engineering change notices (ECN/ECO), and technical reports.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations (

  e.g., ISO, ASME, Indian Standards

  specify if applicable).
• Contribute to the standardization of components and design practices.

• Cost & Manufacturability Optimization (DFM/DFA):

• Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to optimize designs for efficient and cost-effective production.
• Explore and recommend new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and reduce costs.

• Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:

• Address design-related issues encountered during manufacturing, assembly, or field operation.
• Participate in

  FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)

  and

  Root Cause Analysis

  for design-related problems.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design process.

• Vendor & Client Interaction (if applicable):

• Liaise with vendors for component selection and design validation.
• Potentially interact with clients to understand their technical requirements or present design solutions.
