Job Summary

The Design Cum Costing Engineer will be responsible for preparing interior design drawings (2D/3D) along with accurate costing and BOQ preparation for interior projects. The role requires a strong understanding of design intent along with practical execution & cost awareness. This is a hybrid role involving coordination with clients, production, procurement and site teams to ensure technically feasible and cost-effective design solutions.


Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Responsibilities

  • Prepare 2D layout drawings, furniture drawings, and elevations in AutoCAD / SketchUp.
  • Develop concept designs in coordination with the sales/project team.
  • Provide technical drawings / GFC drawings for execution.
  • Ensure designs are practical, fabrication-friendly & cost-efficient.
  • Coordinate with production/factory team for design feasibility.


Costing Responsibilities

  • Prepare BOQ, quantity take-off and rate calculation for all interior works.
  • Estimate material cost, labour cost, and subcontractor cost.
  • Study drawings & specifications and convert them into complete cost sheets.
  • Coordinate with vendors for material pricing & quotations.
  • Maintain costing database and price benchmarks.


Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Work with procurement & projects team to finalise cost inputs.
  • Participate in value engineering to reduce cost without compromising quality.
  • Support sales/pre-sales team in proposal submission.


Key Skills Required

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, and basic 3D tools (SketchUp/3D Max – Optional).
  • Good understanding of interior materials, hardware and finishes.
  • Knowledge of BOQ preparation, rate analysis & costing structure.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Practical knowledge of modular furniture joinery & detailing.
  • Strong Excel / costing sheet preparation skills.
  • Good coordination and documentation ability.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma / Degree in Interior Design / Architecture / Civil / Mechanical (preferred).
  • 2–6 years of experience in design + costing in interior fit-out industry.
  • Experience in retail / modular furniture / turnkey interiors preferred.


Additional Requirements

  • Should be detail-oriented and technically sound.
  • Ability to handle multiple design + costing proposals simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of market rates & vendor base is an advantage.
  • Should be comfortable working with project timelines.
