Job Title: Deputy Manager Learning & Development (L&D)

Department:

Job Summary

The Deputy Manager Learning & Development supports the design, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs that enhance organizational capability and employee performance. The role assists the L&D Manager in managing training operations, driving talent development initiatives, and ensuring alignment between training strategy and business goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. L&D Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and execution of the annual L&D strategy and training calendar.
  • Conduct training needs analysis (TNA) across departments to identify skill gaps.
  • Assist in planning capability-building initiatives for leadership, technical teams, and frontline employees.

2. Training Program Design & Delivery

  • Design training modules, e-learning content, and blended learning solutions.
  • Coordinate internal and external training programs, workshops, and certifications.
  • Facilitate training sessions where required.
  • Ensure training materials are updated, standardized, and aligned to business requirements.

3. Training Operations & Administration

  • Manage end-to-end training logistics including scheduling, vendor coordination, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Maintain training MIS (records, attendance, assessments, certificates).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and audit requirements related to training.

4. Talent & Leadership Development

  • Support succession planning, career development frameworks, and competency mapping.
  • Assist with designing development journeys for high-potential employees and emerging leaders.
  • Coordinate mentorship, coaching, and cross-functional learning programs.

5. Performance & Evaluation

  • Evaluate training effectiveness using standard models (Kirkpatrick, ROI analysis).
  • Gather feedback, measure impact, and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on L&D metrics and KPIs.

6. Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with department heads to understand workforce development needs.
  • Manage relationships with external trainers, institutes, and learning technology providers.
  • Communicate L&D initiatives to employees and promote a culture of continuous learning.

7. HR Collaboration

  • Support HR initiatives such as on boarding, performance management, and engagement programs.
  • Assist in organizational development (OD) projects related to culture, change management, and employee capability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in HR, Psychology, Business Administration, or related field
  • 4–8 years of experience in Learning & Development or HR roles
  • Experience in training design, delivery, and evaluation
  • Experience with LMS, e-learning tools, and training technology preferred
  • Certifications in L&D, Instructional Design, or OD are a plus (e.g., CPTD, SHRM, ATD).
