Role Overview:

The Deputy General Manager Business Development will be responsible for driving municipal project sales, developing strong relationships with government stakeholders, and leading the end-to-end business development cycle in the water sector for Northern Region. The role demands strong commercial acumen and business development experience in government/public sector water infrastructure projects government/public sector.

Job Responsibilities:-

  • Achieve annual sales targets for the Northern Region in line with organizational goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, municipal bodies, and key clients.
  • Proactively identify business opportunities and build a robust prospects pipeline for anticipated tenders.
  • Partner with the Proposals team to ensure cohesive and effective bid submissions.
  • Analyze contractual terms, payment conditions, and risk factors to safeguard organizational interests.
  • Promote innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions, adding value to client projects.
  • Stay updated on market trends, competition, and industry dynamics to inform sales strategies.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop high-performing sales teams to achieve regional objectives.
  • Align sales strategies with organizational goals and support business expansion initiatives.
  • Negotiate contracts, manage client interactions, and maintain long-term partnerships.

Preferred Candidate profile

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Environmental/Water) or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Business Development / Project Sales in the Water Sector, with at least 5+ years handling Municipal Projects.
  • Proven track record of securing and executing large municipal tenders/projects in water supply, wastewater, STPs, or desalination.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes, EPC/PPP contracts, and tendering norms.
  • Excellent network within municipal corporations, urban development bodies, and government institutions.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to lead bid teams.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
