Role Overview

Deputy / Assistant Manager Direct Buying

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement of direct parts: sheet metal, castings, hydraulics, and others

  • Create, release, and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery

  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, lead times, and quality metrics

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, planning) to align delivery schedules with production needs

  • Support new product development (NPD) by ensuring procurement timelines are met during engineering changes

  • Identify and drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, supplier negotiations, and process improvements

  • Resolve supply chain bottlenecks, delays, and other supplier-related issues

  • Forecast procurement requirements and maintain inventory buffer as required

  • Participate in supplier development, qualification, and risk mitigation activities

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain, preferably in an automotive / manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of direct parts categories, especially sheet metal, castings, and hydraulics

  • Excellent negotiation and vendor-management skills

  • Proven track record in cost-saving initiatives and supplier performance improvement

  • Good planning and scheduling capability, with the ability to coordinate with production and engineering

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
