- Graduate degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related technical field - 5+ years of data scientist experience - 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience - 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience - Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment Amazon Payment team creates and manages a global portfolio of products, including co-branded credit cards, installment financing, third party redemptions, and financial services marketplaces. Within this team we are looking for a Data Scientist specifically for supporting Japan Payment Products. Within this team, we are looking for a Data Scientist who will be responsible for performing analysis on large volumes of data which includes predictive modeling, synthesizing the analysis into business insights and communicating the findings to various stakeholders. As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for modeling complex problems and building algorithms that identify opportunities through statistical models, machine learning, and visualization techniques. To be eligible, the candidate must possess superior written and verbal communication skills too, in addition to proven analytical skills. Key job responsibilities -Proven abilities to build and manage modeling projects, identify data requirements, build methodology and tools that are statistically grounded -The candidate will be an expert in the areas of data science, optimization, machine learning and statistics, and is comfortable facilitating ideation and working from concept through execution -The candidate is customer obsessed, innovative, independent, results-oriented and enjoys working in a fast-paced growing organization. -You will likely work with Python or R, though specific particular modeling language. -Manage and execute entire project from start to finish including problem solving, data gathering and manipulation, predictive modeling and project management -Present insights and recommendations to key stakeholders in both verbal and written form Masters in Statistics, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Operations Research or related technical field Prior experience in working with Fintech/Financial domain Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
