Job Description:- Data Privacy Technologist Position Overview:-The Data Privacy Technologist will play a key role in ensuring that the organization adheres to the highest standards of data privacy and compliance. The role focuses on implementing de-identification and anonymization procedures for personal data, assessing re-identification risks, and guiding internal stakeholders in balancing compliance with data usability. The incumbent will collaborate with global Data Privacy teams, business units, and R&D stakeholders to embed GDPR and other regulatory requirements in data processing and healthcare technology development. Key Responsibilities:-Define, implement, and monitor de-identification and anonymization procedures for personal data (patients, physicians, etc.). Identify direct and indirect identifiers, conduct risk assessments of datasets, and calculate re-identification risks while suggesting mitigation measures. Consult with internal stakeholders during project planning to ensure data privacy compliance while retaining data usability. Apply data-avoidance and data-minimization principles consistently. Assess the impact of emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML) on re-identification risks and recommend safeguards. Represent the R&D function in discussions with the Data Privacy Compliance Organization and external stakeholders where necessary. Continuously improve internal data handling processes and frameworks. Ensure alignment with global and local data privacy regulations, including GDPR and HIPAA. Required Experience & Skills Minimum 6+ years of experience in software R&D or related functions. At least 2 years of experience in a Data Privacy role, preferably in healthcare or regulated industries. In-depth knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, and global data protection concepts. Strong understanding of personal vs anonymized data and ability to apply data minimization practices. Proven expertise in anonymization techniques such as pseudonymization, obfuscation, k-anonymization, hashing, encryption. Experience with healthcare data, including DICOM, HL7 standards, and data de-identification in healthcare IT. Experience working with regulators or data protection authorities is a plus. Relevant certifications preferred: CIPP/E, CIPT, CIPM (GDPR), DCPP. Leadership & Soft Skills Strong decision-making ability with consistent demonstration of sound judgment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills – ability to build consensus across diverse stakeholders. Skilled in presenting and facilitating discussions with both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven ability to work in international and cross-cultural teams. Ability to influence and guide teams in data privacy best practices. Qualification Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related fields. Domain / Product Experience Strong understanding of Healthcare IT and MedTech ecosystems. Knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging workflows and patient data movement across systems.
