Data Engineer Intern

Job Summary

The Data Engineer Intern will work closely with the data engineering teams to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and systems. This internship provides hands-on exposure to modern data engineering practices, tools, and cloud platforms, while contributing to real-world projects that drive business insights.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, testing, building and maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
• Support integration of data from multiple sources into data warehouses/lakes.
• Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and transformation.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and engineers to ensure data accuracy and availability.
• Help with automating data quality checks and monitoring processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability, reliability, and accuracy.
• Contribute to data quality initiatives, validation checks, and process automation.

Required Skills

• Intermediate level in Structured Query Language (SQL) and database fundamentals.
• Basic understanding of data integration, APIs, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Exposure to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes.
• Strong sense of customer service to consistently and effectively address client needs.
• Self-motivated; comfortable working independently under general direction
• Working knowledge of database principles, processes, technologies and tools
• Ability to take pride in the quality, details, efficiency, and consistency of the data warehouse components you’ll be helping build, deploy, and maintain at scale.

Education & Relevant Experience

• Bachelor’s/ master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Any healthcare related experience/knowledge is good to have.
