Role Overview

The Dance Teacher is responsible for providing quality dance education to students, developing their physical coordination, creativity, cultural awareness, and stage confidence. The teacher will train students in various dance forms and prepare them for school events, competitions, and performances.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum

Teach dance to students across different age groups (Primary, Middle, and Secondary levels).

Instruct students in classical, folk, and modern/western dance forms as per school requirements.

Plan structured dance lessons aligned with the school calendar and cultural activities.

Demonstrate dance techniques, movements, rhythm, and expressions clearly and effectively.

Adapt teaching methods to suit different learning abilities and age groups.

Student Development

Encourage creativity, confidence, teamwork, and discipline among students.

Identify and nurture students with special talent in dance.

Assess student performance and provide regular feedback for improvement.

Promote physical fitness, posture, and coordination through dance training.

Performances & Events

Choreograph and rehearse dances for annual day, festivals, assemblies, and cultural programs.

Prepare students for inter-school competitions and stage performances.

Coordinate costumes, music, and stage arrangements for performances.

Classroom & Safety Management

Maintain discipline and a positive learning environment during dance sessions.

Ensure student safety and proper warm-up and cool-down practices.

Take care of dance equipment and practice areas.

Collaboration & Administration

Work closely with school management and teachers to support cultural and extracurricular activities.

Maintain attendance, lesson plans, and performance records.

Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress when required.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree or Diploma in Dance / Performing Arts from a recognized institution.

Training in one or more classical dance forms (Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, etc.) preferred.

Experience teaching in a school or dance academy is an advantage.

Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.

Passion for teaching and mentoring children.

Salary & Benefits

Salary as per school norms (approximately ₹25,000 – ₹40,000 per month).
