Hiring a Cutting Supervisor for a leading garment manufacturer in Coimbatore.

Job Title: Cutting supervisor
Department: CuttingReportsTo: Cutting Manager

Education: Diploma/Degree in Textile Technology, Garment Manufacturing, or a related field

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in garment cutting supervision.

Location: Coimbatore

Gender: Male/Female

Experience with CAD software for marker making (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, Optitex).

Key Responsibilities:

Cutting Operations Management:

• Supervise the entire cutting process, ensuring cutting Targets are met.
• Plan and allocate work to cutters based on production requirements.
• Monitor daily cutting operations to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure proper fabric utilisation to minimise wastage and control costs.

Marker Planning & Fabric Utilisation:

• Develop and approve efficient marker plans to maximise fabric usage and to meet Costing consumption.
• Work with the CAD team to create optimised markers for different fabric widths.
• Ensure correct marker positioning to minimise wastage, shade variation, and fabric defects.
• Oversee the plotting and cutting of markers, ensuring alignment with the pattern.
• Analyse fabric consumption data and implement strategies for cost-effective cutting.

Quality Control & Minimising Rework/Rejection:

• Inspect fabric before cutting to identify defects, shade variations, and shrinkage issues.
• Ensure strict adherence to approved patterns and cutting markers to avoid rejections.
• Conduct random quality checks during and after cutting to identify errors early.
• Monitor and document rejection reasons, working on process improvements to reduce errors.

Workforce & Machine Management:

• Supervise and train cutting department workers to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensure proper handling and maintenance of cutting machines (e.g., straight knife, band knife, End cutter).
• Coordinate with the maintenance team for machine servicing and troubleshooting to avoid production delays.

Process Improvement & Efficiency:

• Identify and implement improvements in cutting methods to minimise defects and rework.
• Maintain accurate records of fabric usage, wastage, and production output for continuous improvement.

Coordination with Other Departments:

• Work closely with the merchandising and production teams to understand order requirements.
• Collaborate with the sewing department to ensure the timely delivery of cut fabric with minimal defects.
