J ob Title: Customs House Agent Manager Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu Company: Janaki Logistics Industry: Logistics and Supply Chain Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary: Janaki Logistics is seeking a dynamic and experienced Customs House Agent Manager to lead and manage our customs operations at the Chennai branch. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring timely and compliant clearance of all import/export shipments, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, and managing a team of customs professionals. Key Responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day customs clearance operations for both import and export shipments. Ensure compliance with all customs regulations, DGFT policies, and other government requirements. Liaise with customs officials, freight forwarders, port authorities, and other stakeholders. Prepare and review documentation required for customs clearance, including bills of entry, shipping bills, invoices, and packing lists. Supervise and coordinate with the CHA (Customs House Agent) team and ensure proper licensing and regulatory compliance. Manage relationships with clients, providing them with updates and resolving customs-related issues promptly. Maintain records and generate periodic reports for internal and regulatory use. Stay updated on policy changes from CBIC, DGFT, and other authorities, and implement necessary updates in procedures. Train and manage customs clearance staff to ensure high performance and compliance. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in customs clearance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. In-depth knowledge of Indian customs laws, procedures, and documentation. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Familiarity with EDI systems, ICEGATE, and digital customs platforms.
