Job Description

Role Summary

The Creative Communications Associate will conceptualize and craft visual content that strengthens IIT Madras’s alumni, donor, and CSR communication. This role goes beyond graphic design — it involves campaign ideation, visual storytelling, and translating institutional narratives into compelling digital formats. The Associate will conceptualize and design posters, infographics, presentations, videos, and short social media reels that bring IITM’s stories, campaigns, and events to life. The ideal candidate will understand diverse communication needs, translate them into creative outputs, and deliver polished visuals that reflect the institute’s identity and tone.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Visual Creation

    :
  • Develop engaging visual materials such as posters, infographics, newsletters, event backdrops, and digital creatives for campaigns and events.
  • Design and format PowerPoint presentations for institute reports, proposal decks, and retail campaigns.
  • Maintain a consistent and professional visual identity across all materials.
  • Video Production & Editing

    :
  • Conceptualize and produce short videos, interviews, reels, and YouTube content highlighting IITM’s initiatives, alumni stories, and CSR partner projects.
  • Plan shots, write basic scripts, coordinate shoots, and oversee editing.
  • Creative Concept Development

    :
  • Translate broad communication needs into creative ideas and visual storytelling outputs.
  • Propose new content formats (short reels, motion graphics, thematic series) to enhance engagement.
  • Event & Campaign Support

    :
  • Design event-related collateral (banners, backdrops, name boards, digital invites).
  • Create visuals and short videos for campaigns such as Giving Day, CSR Awards, and alumni meets.
  • Content Management & Coordination

    :
  • Maintain an organized content repository of designs, videos, templates, and assets.
  • Coordinate with vendors, photographers, and editors when needed.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in design tools (Canva, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of video editing tools (Premiere Pro, CapCut, or equivalent).
  • Strong presentation design skills (PowerPoint, Google Slides).
  • Basic knowledge of framing, lighting, and storytelling for short videos/reels.
  • Ability to ideate and execute visuals independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good sense of aesthetics, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  • Time management and ability to work across multiple design requests.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Design, Media, Communication, or related fields preferred).
  • 3-4 years of experience in graphic design, video editing, or digital content creation.

Portfolio demonstrating creative design and multimedia work is required.
