Job Description

Job Overview:

  • We are looking for a strategic and results-driven Chief Operating Officer (COO) to oversee and optimize the entire operations of our steel manufacturing business. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned leader with deep industry knowledge, operational expertise, and a proven track record in managing end-to-end manufacturing operations, supply chain, safety, and quality in the steel or heavy industry sector.
  • As COO, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence, enhancing productivity, ensuring process compliance, and supporting the organization’s growth objectives through efficient execution of manufacturing and business strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operational Leadership:

  • Lead and oversee daily operations of manufacturing plants, production planning, logistics, quality assurance, procurement, and supply chain management.

- Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Collaborate with the MD/CEO and board on long-term strategic planning; convert strategy into actionable operational plans.

- Production & Process Optimization

  • Implement lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase output.

- P&L Management

  • Manage budgets, operational KPIs, and profitability for the manufacturing division; ensure cost-effective practices across operations.

- Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations; promote a strong culture of workplace safety.

- Team Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing operations team; mentor plant heads, production managers, and other key leaders.

- Technology & Innovation

  • Drive digital transformation and automation initiatives; oversee ERP implementations and smart manufacturing projects.

- Quality Control

  • Maintain product quality standards; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production defects.

- Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Coordinate with other departments (Sales, Finance, HR, R&D) for seamless inter functional alignment.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • - In-depth knowledge of steel manufacturing processes (Specifically auto sector steel components.)
  • - Strong leadership and people management capabilities
  • - Data-driven decision making and analytical skills
  • - Expertise in operations strategy, cost control, and industrial engineering
  • - Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
  • - Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, BIS, etc.)
  • - Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • - Minimum 15 years of experience in a leadership role in steel/heavy manufacturing
  • - Engineering degree (Metallurgy / Mechanical / Industrial); MBA preferred
  • - Track record of improving plant performance and driving operational transformation
  • - Experience in multi-plant or multi-location operations is a plus.
