Community Associate & Social Media Manager

🎯 Role Overview:

The Community Associate is the heartbeat of the hostel’s vibe. You’ll be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences, sparking conversations, managing social interactions, supporting events, and ensuring that every guest feels like they’re part of the Zostel tribe.

💼 Key Responsibilities:

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Guest Engagement & Community Building

• Interact with guests throughout the day — especially during check-ins, breakfasts, and evenings
• Create a warm, inclusive, and fun atmosphere across all social spaces
• Initiate conversations, encourage group activities, and be the “friendly face” at the hostel
• Help new guests settle in and connect with fellow travelers
• Identify guests who could be influencers, content creators, or simply good vibe carriers

🎉 Event Support & Execution

• Assist the Community Manager in planning and executing in-house events (games, workshops, open mics, etc.)
• Set up and pack down events, manage event inventories, and ensure smooth logistics
• Host activities like quiz nights, pub crawls, movie screenings, etc.
• Act as the POC for artists or collaborators during events

📸 Content & Social Media Support

• Capture photos and videos of hostel life, guests, and events
• Encourage guests to tag Zostel and leave reviews
• Occasionally contribute ideas or draft captions for Instagram stories
• Identify content opportunities (a cool guest, a fun interaction, etc.)

🧾 Operations & Coordination

• Coordinate with the Front Desk to know guest details (birthdays, long stays, group bookings, etc.)
• Flag any maintenance issues to the Property Manager

👤 Who You Are:

• A social, energetic, and proactive individual who loves meeting new people
• Comfortable being “on” most of the day — chatting with guests, hosting, vibing
• Passionate about travel, storytelling, and people from different backgrounds
• A multitasker who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
• Fluent in English and Hindi (other languages are a bonus)

📚 Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in hospitality, events, media, or tourism is a plus
• Prior hostel/travel experience (as a traveler or worker) preferred
• Basic understanding of social media (Instagram especially)
• Photography/video skills are a bonus
