Job Description

Job Title: Commis 1 Department: Kitchen Reports to: Shift Lead/Manager Job Summary The Commis 1 is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and presentation/packaging of dishes while ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and consistency. This role requires a solid understanding of kitchen operations and the ability to guide junior staff when needed. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook dishes as per recipes and quality standards. Ensure all food prepared meets the required taste, presentation, and portion standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned kitchen section. Assist the shift lead/manager in daily kitchen operations. Check ingredients for freshness, proper storage, and overall quality. Follow portion control guidelines and work to minimize food wastage. Train and support junior team members and kitchen staff. Coordinate with other kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations. Requirements Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Commis 2 or in a similar kitchen role. Strong understanding of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment. High focus on food quality, taste, and presentation. Good communication, teamwork, and time management skills. Culinary certification or diploma is preferred.
