Job Title: Commis Chef (East Asian cuisine (Korean, Japanese)

Location: Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Reports to: Head Chef / Sous Chef

Job Summary

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Commis Chef to join our culinary team at Bubblepop Pancakes, specializing in East Asian cuisine while also catering to Continental food lovers. As a Commis Chef, you will assist the senior chefs in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of both East Asian and Continental dishes, ensuring consistency and excellence in every plate served. This is an ideal position for someone who is eager to expand their skills and grow within a dynamic kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of both East Asian and Continental dishes as per the restaurant’s standards.
  • Support senior chefs in various sections of the kitchen, including grilling, sautéing, baking, and frying.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare ingredients and basic mise en place to support kitchen operations.
  • Participate in menu development and contribute creative ideas for seasonal specials and new menu items.
  • Ensure proper storage and labelling of food items, minimizing waste and ensuring freshness.
  • Assist in the receiving and stock rotation of ingredients.
  • Keep up to date with new culinary trends, techniques, and best practices.
  • Handle minor tasks such as chopping, cutting, and marinating, adhering to recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to maintain a seamless and efficient kitchen flow.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a professional kitchen setting, preferably with exposure to East Asian and/or Continental cuisine.
  • Basic knowledge of East Asian cooking techniques, ingredients, and dishes, as well as familiarity with Continental cuisine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of food hygiene and safety standards.
  • Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to take direction well.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
