Collection Officer

The Debt Collection Officer is responsible for recovering outstanding payments from clients, ensuring timely follow-ups, maintaining strong customer relationships, and supporting the finance team in maintaining accurate accounts. The role requires excellent communication skills, negotiation abilities, and professional conduct. Key ResponsibilitiesContact customers via phone, email, and in-person visits (if required) to recover outstanding dues Maintain accurate records of all communications, commitments, and payment updates Follow up on overdue invoices and ensure timely collection of payments Resolve customer queries regarding payments, invoices, and account statements Coordinate with the accounts and sales teams to verify billing details and outstanding balances Identify defaulting customers and escalate issues to management when necessary Prepare and submit daily/weekly collection reports Ensure collection activities follow company policies and legal guidelines Build and maintain positive relationships with clients while maintaining firmness in recovery Recommend appropriate action for long-pending accounts RequirementsProven experience as a Collection Officer / Collection Executive / Accounts Receivable role (preferred) Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally Knowledge of billing, invoices, and basic accounting principles Good command of Tamil and basic English (additional languages are a plus) Ability to work independently and meet monthly collection targets Basic computer skills (MS Office, Excel, WhatsApp communication, etc.) Willingness to travel locally for field collections (if required) Additional Preferred QualitiesHigh level of integrity and professionalism Attention to detail and excellent follow-up skills Ability to remain calm under pressure Strong problem-solving attitude
