Responsibilities Create design documents and drawings for projects, including foundations, drainage, and grading layouts. Apply field mark-ups of the project as-built drawings with minimal supervision. Provide support in areas such as substation/switchyard arrangement review, quantity estimation, grading and drainage design, foundation calculations, steel structure design, building design, equipment specifications, seismic qualification, and material specifications. Perform calculations and develop detailed designs, including foundations, steel structures, and mounting. Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages. Experience working with Construction design techniques and feasibility studies. Adopt all relevant requirements around issues such as building permits, environmental regulations, sanitary & drainage design, and safety on all work assignments. Understanding of geotechnical site surveys, earthworks, site grading, and drainage. Specialization in civil and structural design for high voltage substations and transmission lines, with additional experience in industrial facilities or power plants. Apply engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI Assist in tendering procedures and proposals. Manage changes related to the design. Identify and notify relevant parties of changes in the project Utilize a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex and repetitive calculations. Collaborate with the project lead engineer to develop design criteria and document deliverables. Help define and implement site design concept documents for projects. Perform due diligence for site selection and site planning activities, which will include, but are not limited to, preliminary local zoning and environmental evaluation (endangered species, critical habitats, wetlands, archaeological/cultural/historic resources), FAA analysis Validate construction sub-contractor bids and negotiate sub-contracts for electrical substations, Solar PV Plant and switchyard projects. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university. 5+ Years of experience as a civil design Engineer in the solar industry/Substation Projects. Experience with solar piles is an added advantage. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Proficiency with CAD Software and Structural analysis tools. Experience in the USA Projects preferred. Skills MS Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, STAAD. Pro, Structural Analysis, 3D modelling.
