Position Overview:

Category Head of Marketplace

Key Responsibilities:

Marketplace Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketplace strategies to drive growth
  • Identify new opportunities, market trends, and customer needs to maximize product visibility and sales.
  • Lead the development of product assortments, pricing strategies, and promotional calendars for the marketplace.

Team Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Manage and lead a cross-functional team, including sales, marketing, operations, and analytics to ensure seamless marketplace operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the product development team to align product offerings and ensure they meet marketplace demands.

  • Sales Performance & Optimization:

  • Drive sales growth by optimizing product listings, and leveraging data-driven insights.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as conversion rates, customer satisfaction, and revenue targets, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and identify opportunities for improvement in pricing, content, and promotional strategies.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management:

  • Work closely with the supply chain and inventory teams to ensure product availability, timely deliveries, and inventory turnover optimization.
  • Ensure alignment with inventory forecasts and minimize stock-outs or overstock situations.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting:

  • Build strong relationships with vendors and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Regularly report on performance metrics, campaign results, and marketplace trends to senior leadership.

Customer Experience & Brand Consistency:

  • Ensure a seamless customer experience across all online platforms, focusing on customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all marketplace channels.

Qualifications:

  • MBA is a must.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in category management, marketplace operations, or e-commerce management, preferably in a consumer goods or retail environment.
  • Proven experience managing and growing sales on major online marketplaces such as Amazon, Flipkart, and others.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make strategic decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of e-commerce platforms, online advertising, and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results.
