Cardio Coder (WFH)

The Cardio Coder specializes in accurate coding of cardiovascular procedures and diagnoses to ensure proper documentation and reimbursement under Revenue Cycle Management. This role involves reviewing medical records related to cardiology, applying ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes according to regulatory guidelines, and collaborating with clinical teams to maximize revenue and reduce denials.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review cardiology-related medical records, including EKGs, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pacemaker insertions, and other cardiovascular diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for cardiovascular diagnoses and procedures.
• Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with CMS, payer guidelines, and coding standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and billing teams to clarify documentation and resolve coding queries.
• Support claims processing and help reduce denials related to cardiology coding.
• Stay updated with changes in cardiology coding guidelines, payer policies, and compliance requirements.
• Assist in audits and quality assurance initiatives to maintain coding integrity.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
• Minimum 2 years experience in cardiology coding or related medical coding roles.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding specific to cardiovascular procedures.
• Familiarity with Revenue Cycle Management processes in a healthcare setting.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills.
• Proficient in electronic health records (EHR) and coding software.
• Ability to interpret clinical documentation and medical terminology related to cardiology.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of CPT modifiers and billing requirements for cardiovascular procedures.
• Experience working with inpatient and outpatient cardiology coding.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
