Job Description

As a CAD Designer focusing on solar energy, you will create detailed technical drawings, layouts, and schematics for solar panel installations using CAD software. You will work closely with engineers and project managers to ensure designs are optimized for maximum efficiency, meet structural and electrical requirements, and comply with all relevant industry regulations and building codes.  Key Responsibilities Solar System Design & Layout: Prepare 2D and 3D CAD drawings for solar power projects, including site plans, panel layouts, mounting structures (rooftop and ground-mounted), and foundation designs. Electrical Schematics: Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, and panel schedules for solar electric systems. Site Analysis & Optimization: Process data collected from site assessments to create optimized layouts, considering site conditions, shading analysis, panel configurations, and structural stability. Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with electrical, structural, civil, and project management teams to ensure design alignment with site requirements and project timelines. Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international regulations, codes (e.g., IS codes, IEC standards, NEC), and company guidelines. Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare and manage detailed Bills of Materials (BOM) and equipment specifications for procurement and installation teams. Issue Resolution: Assist in troubleshooting design issues that may arise during the installation or commissioning phases of a project. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all drawings, design changes, and project documentation (including "as-built" drawings after execution).  Required Skills & Qualifications Education: An Associate's degree or diploma in CAD Technology, Drafting, Electrical/Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical field is required. Experience: Proven experience in a CAD role, with a strong portfolio of technical drawings. Prior experience in solar PV system design or the wider construction/engineering industry is a significant advantage. Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD is mandatory; familiarity with SolidWorks, Revit, or Civil 3D is a plus). Basic understanding of electrical and/or mechanical engineering concepts related to solar systems. Familiarity with solar design/simulation software like PVsyst or Helioscope is highly valued.
