Job Description

Role Summary:

Responsible for end-to-end sourcing, procurement, and supplier management of imported brought-out parts, chemicals, separators, pasting paper, and other indirect materials used in battery manufacturing. The role ensures cost competitiveness, timely availability, and quality compliance of all procured materials.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers (domestic and international) for chemicals, separators, pasting paper, and related components.
  • Float inquiries, obtain quotations, and conduct techno-commercial evaluations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts to ensure cost optimization.
  • Monitor global markets for key raw materials (Metals , chemicals, polymers, etc.) and track price trends.

2. Imports & Logistics Coordination

  • Manage import documentation, shipment tracking, and coordination with CHA, freight forwarders, and internal logistics.
  • Ensure adherence to import regulations, duty structures, and customs compliance.
  • Optimize lead times and freight costs with continuous market evaluation

3. Supplier & Quality Management

  • Work closely with Quality and R&D teams for supplier qualification and material approval.
  • Conduct supplier audits jointly with QA for quality assurance and process compliance.
  • Drive supplier performance improvement on delivery, cost, and quality metrics.

4. Inventory & Planning for Bonded warehouse

  • Coordinate with production and planning teams to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Implement reorder levels and safety stock norms for critical imported materials.
  • Minimize non-moving and obsolete inventory.

5. Cost & Process Optimization

  • Support cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing and localization where feasible.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data, and support cost benchmarking and spend analysis.

6. Documentation & Compliance

  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policy, audit standards, and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain complete records for imports, vendor approvals, and price finalizations.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of

    battery manufacturing materials

    separators, chemicals, pasting papers, adhesives, additives, etc.
  • Understanding of

    import procedures, LC, INCOTERMS

    , and global sourcing practices.
  • Proficient in

    SAP / ERP

    systems and MS Excel.
  • Excellent

    negotiation, communication, and analytical

    skills.

Ability to work cross-functionally with R&D, QA, Planning, and Finance.

  • Cost savings achieved vs. annual targets
  • On-time material availability (%)
  • Supplier performance (OTD, quality, responsiveness)
  • Import lead time reduction
  • Compliance to procurement SOP and documentation
