Job Purpose:

  • To drive new business growth, build and manage relationships with OEMs & Tier-1 suppliers in the automotive segment, aligning with product lines (instruments, sensors, oil pumps, etc.).
  • To develop strategic market opportunities, expand share in existing accounts, identify new customers, and contribute positively to the companys topline and profitability.
  • To act as the link between technical/engineering teams, manufacturing, and commercial teams, ensuring customer requirements are met and new projects are converted into orders.

Key Responsibilities:

Market & Customer Acquisition

    • Identify and map target OEMs / Tier-1 suppliers in India (and potentially overseas) for the relevant product portfolio.
    • Develop a pipeline of new business leads: evaluate enquiries, RFQs, tenders; engage customers early in the development process.
    • Build relationships with decision-makers (Engineering, Procurement, Program Managers) at OEMs & Tier-1s.
    • Conduct customer visits, business presentations and capability demonstrations.
  1. Business Growth & Account Management
    • Develop and implement account plans for key customers: up-sell, cross-sell, grow share of wallet.
    • Negotiate contracts, commercial terms (pricing, payment terms, delivery) with customers.
    • Monitor competitor activity, market trends, new technologies, and advise internal teams accordingly.
    • Coordinate with internal teams (engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing) to ensure customer specifications, timing, cost targets are met.
  2. Project Development & Conversion
    • Work with engineering/product development teams to translate customer requirements into commercial proposals (costing, tooling, development charges, NREs).
    • Drive the new project set-up: from quotation to order, follow up until business is secured and handed over to operations.
    • Provide feedback on customer requirements, market needs to R&D and product teams for future roadmap.
  3. Profitability & Targets
    • Achieve assigned business targets (new orders, revenue growth, margin improvements).
    • Prepare and submit periodic reports (pipeline status, order bookings, forecast, conversion ratio) to management.
    • Ensure business is viable: cost to serve, logistics, tooling cost, lead-time, quality.
  4. Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Liaise with marketing/branding teams for promotional/visibility activities (trade shows, conferences, customer seminars).
    • Work with supply chain, manufacturing to secure capacity, ensure delivery schedules and customer satisfaction.
    • Support business reviews, internal governance (commercial approvals, contracts compliance).

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with automotive industry standards, VDA/AIAG, PPAP, APQP.
  • Understanding of OEM cost structures, sourcing strategy, supplier evaluation.
  • Experience in contract negotiation, strategic sourcing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Analytical mindset: pipeline management, forecasting, tracking metrics.
  • Proficiency in CRM tools, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
