Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Baker located in Mumbai. The Baker will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of products, including authentic Neapolitan sourdough pizzas. Daily tasks include dough preparation, adhering to traditional fermentation processes, maintaining equipment cleanliness, and ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Baker to join our team in creating authentic Italian pastries and baked goods. As a Baker, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality baked products based on Sourdough, ensuring that all products meet our high standards of quality and presentation, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace, along with ability to introduce market relevant New Products – New Product Development and ensuring cost compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Baking and Production as per scheduled batches:

- Prepare a variety of Italian pastries, bread, and baked goods, such as Croissants, Cruffins, Brioche and its variants, Bomboloni and other authentic products.

- Follow traditional Italian recipes and techniques to ensure authenticity and quality.

- Maintain consistency in product quality, texture, and presentation.

2. Quality Control:

- Inspect products for quality, texture, and appearance.

- Ensure that all products meet our high standards and are free from defects.

- Identify areas for improvement and suggest changes to recipes or processes.

3. Workplace Organization and Cleanliness:

- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to health and safety standards.

- Ensure that all equipment and tools are properly cleaned and sanitized.

- Participate or delegate in deep cleaning and maintenance activities as needed.

4. Inventory Management:

- Monitor ingredient inventory levels and request replenishments as needed.

- Ensure that all ingredients are stored properly and within expiration dates.

5. Cost Control:

- Monitor and control ingredient costs, labor costs, and overheads to ensure profitability.

- Identify areas for cost reduction and implement cost-saving initiatives.

- Collaborate with the procurement team to source ingredients and supplies at competitive prices.

6. New Product Development:

- Participate in the development of new products, including recipe development, testing, and refinement.

- Conduct market research and analyze consumer trends to identify opportunities for new products.

- Collaborate with the marketing team to launch new products and promote them to customers.

7. Team Collaboration:

- Work effectively with other bakers, pastry chefs, and production staff to meet production demands.

- Share knowledge, techniques, and best practices with colleagues.

- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
