Backend Engineer - Python - SR2

About the Job

This is a full time role for a Senior Python Developer at Spark Eighteen. We are looking for a backend developer who is not just a tech expert but also passionate about building products. This role involves contributing to world class products, building scalable systems and mentoring junior developers. The job location is flexible with preference for the Delhi NCR region.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop robust web applications using Python.
• Participate in architectural discussions and provide innovative ideas for system improvement.
• Drive team-wide adoption of coding guidelines, testing methodologies, and quality metrics.
• Drive continuous improvement and best practices in backend development processes.
• Lead, mentor, and guide interns and junior engineers to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
• Participate in comprehensive code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development standards
• Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
• Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems

Requirements

Technical Skills

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent subjects
• Strong technical background with 5 - 7 years of hands-on experience in Python and its frameworks such as Django, Flask, etc
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and database design (SQL/NoSQL).
• Expertise with version control systems (Git) and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in building secure applications, including experience with OAuth2, JWT, and other authentication/authorization protocols.
• Understanding of the threading limitations of Python, and multi-process architecture
• Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers, and environments
• Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
• Experience in conducting code reviews and ensuring code quality standards
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
