Backend Engineer Intern

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining backend services using Node.js and Express.js.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs connected to PostgreSQL databases.
• Collaborate with frontend developers (React) and other team members to build scalable web applications.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle including coding, testing, debugging, and deployment.
• Work on database design, optimization, and query tuning with PostgreSQL.
• Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and Agile development processes.
• Troubleshoot backend issues and implement improvements under senior engineer guidance.

Requirements

• Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.js.
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases and SQL query writing.
• Understanding of REST API principles and integration.
• Experience or interest in working with the full PERN stack is a plus.
• Exposure to version control systems (Git) and collaboration tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and team collaboration mindset.

Preferred (Optional)

• Experience with frontend technologies like React.js.

• Knowledge of Docker, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or CI/CD pipelines.

• Personal or academic projects demonstrating backend development skills on PERN stack.
