Position Overview:

The Cloud Optimization Specialist will be an integral part of the Cloud Architecture team, focusing on leveraging cloud computing to achieve financial efficiency and operational excellence. The specialist will bring a deep understanding of AWS services, Excel, Terraform, ServiceNow, and Jira, along with a proven track record of managing large AWS accounts for cloud optimization. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, financial acumen, and project management skills to ensure the company maximizes its cloud investments while supporting scalability and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cloud Financial Management: Implement and manage financial governance across large AWS accounts. Utilize AWS cost management tools to monitor, analyze, and optimize costs in alignment with the organizations budget and financial goals.


• Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Utilize Terraform to automate and manage cloud infrastructure, ensuring cost-effective scaling and compliance with financial policies.


• Operational Excellence: Leverage ServiceNow and Jira to streamline cloud operations processes, enhancing efficiency and reducing waste. Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate financial optimization principles into daily operations.


• Data Analysis and Reporting: Use advanced Excel skills to analyze cloud expenditure data, prepare reports, and present insights to stakeholders. Develop and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into cloud spending.


• Strategic Planning: Work closely with the Senior Director of Cloud Architecture and cross-functional teams to develop and implement cloud optimization strategies that support the companys growth and innovation objectives.


• Cost Optimization Projects: Lead initiatives focused on reducing cloud spend, such as reserved instance purchasing, identifying underutilized resources, and negotiating contracts with cloud service providers.


• Training and Advocacy: Promote a culture of cost awareness and efficiency. Provide training and resources to teams on best practices for cloud financial management.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Finance, Business, or related field.


• 6+ years of commercial experience.


• 3+ years of experience in cloud financial management, specifically with AWS.


• Proficiency in AWS services, Terraform, Excel, ServiceNow, and Jira.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across departments.


• Demonstrated ability to manage projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.


• Experience in a FinOps capacity or similar role focused on cloud cost optimization.


• Advanced Excel skills, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros.


• Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automating tasks and analyzing data.
