As an Assistant Vice President in the Investment Banking Finance team at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in spearheading the evolution of the digital landscape and driving innovation to ensure unparalleled customer experiences. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Managing the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial statements and other accounting records in compliance with relevant accounting standards. - Supporting in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial risks, and reporting on these risks to senior colleagues. - Developing and maintaining a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial data. - Implementing up-to-date financial policies and procedures for consistent and effective financial practices. - Managing the selection, implementation, and maintenance of financial systems and software applications. - Coordinating with external auditors and regulatory authorities to support audits and examinations. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills: - Good financial acumen, accounting, and reporting skills. - Ability to understand and analyze financial information, including balance sheet and P&L. Basic knowledge of IFRS9 and Financial instruments is a must. - Good communication skills, positive attitude, and willingness to learn. - Proficient in Excel and ability to handle large sets of data. Quick learner of financial systems such as SAP, Hyperion, Alteryx, etc. - A Finance or Accounting qualification/degree, CA qualification preferable but not compulsory. In addition to the above, as an Assistant Vice President, you are expected to: - Provide advice to People Leaders on complex issues and support in resolving escalated problems. - Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures to enhance control and governance. - Take ownership of managing risk and strengthening controls in the work done. - Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to creatively solve problems. - Communicate complex information effectively and influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
