Role Purpose

• Coordinate and execute automation projects across plant machinery, utilities, and production lines.
• Identify automation opportunities based on application requirements, cycle time, quality, safety, and cost.
• Select appropriate automation technologies (PLC, HMI, Robots, CNC integration, sensors, drives, etc.).
• Support integration of automation with existing machines and systems.
• Ensure successful installation, commissioning, and handover of automation projects.

2. Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate with automation vendors, system integrators, and service engineers during project execution.
• Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions post-installation.
• Evaluate vendor proposals, technical offers, and solutions in line with plant requirements.
• Ensure vendor compliance with safety, quality, and statutory standards.

3. Daily Work Management & Reporting

• Provide daily / weekly updates on automation project status to plant leadership and management.
• Track milestones, risks, delays, and corrective actions for ongoing projects.
• Collect and analyze project-related data including cost, performance, and timelines.

4. CAPEX, BOM & SAP Coordination

• Prepare and raise CAPEX proposals for automation-related initiatives.
• Actively participate in Bill of Material (BOM) preparation and technical finalization.
• Ensure timely availability of materials by raising Purchase Requisitions (PR) in SAP (S/4 HANA).
• Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, and Finance teams for smooth execution.

5. Planning & Scheduling

• Develop detailed project plans and schedules and circulate to all concerned stakeholders.
• Ensure alignment of automation activities with production planning.
• Monitor progress against plan and initiate corrective actions where required.

6. Safety, Compliance & Standards

• Ensure all automated machinery and systems comply with safety, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to ISO, EHS, IATF 16949, and other applicable industry standards.
• Ensure safety interlocks, guarding, risk assessments, and SOPs are implemented effectively.
• Promote safe work practices during installation, commissioning, and operation.

7. Documentation & KPI Reporting

• Prepare and maintain documentation related to automation projects, layouts, SOPs, manuals, and drawings.
• Generate reports on equipment performance, downtime, energy consumption, cost savings, and KPIs.
• Support audits and compliance documentation related to automation systems.

8. Team Management & Cross-functional Coordination

• Supervise and guide internal teams during project execution until final handover.
• Coordinate closely with Production, Electrical, Instrumentation, Maintenance, Quality, SAP, and Purchase teams.
• Provide technical guidance and training to operators and maintenance teams where required.

9. Cost, Energy & Productivity Optimization

• Identify and implement cost reduction and energy optimization opportunities through automation.
• Suggest design modifications and process improvements to enhance productivity, efficiency, and reliability.
• Support sustainability initiatives and energy conservation projects.

10. Continuous Improvement & Reliability Projects

• Participate in reliability improvement projects, upgrades, and plant modernization initiatives.
• Support automation upgrades, retrofits, and modifications of existing equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with operational excellence goals.

Qualifications and Skills Formal Qualifications Essential

• Three-year B.Tech/Polytechnic Diploma in

  Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering

• Proficiency in English and local language
• Strong knowledge of plant machinery, CNC machines, robots, and automation systems
• Working knowledge of

  SAP S/4 HANA

  , digital tools, and MS Office

Experience

• Minimum

  4+ years

  of experience in

  automation within automotive manufacturing / machine shop

• Hands-on experience with automation projects across multiple machine types
• Strong understanding of automotive quality systems (

  IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP

  )

Desirable

• Experience in automation project execution and commissioning
• Exposure to sustainability, energy management, and risk management practices
