AutoCAD Drafter/Designer/Technician (0-1 yrs experience)

Position Overview

The AutoCAD Drafter / Drawing Takeoff Technician is responsible for reviewing architectural, structural, mechanical, or fabrication drawings and preparing accurate CAD drawings, markups, and quantity takeoffs required for estimating and production. This role supports the engineering, estimating, and project teams by converting technical drawings into clean, organized CAD files and takeoff reports.

Key Responsibilities1. Drawing Review & CAD Drafting

• Interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and fabrication drawings.
• Create, update, and modify detailed CAD drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details).
• Convert PDFs, sketches, and markups into accurate AutoCAD files.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances, and design details as per standards.

2. Material & Quantity Takeoffs

• Extract accurate material quantities using CAD drawings.
• Break down drawings into measurable elements for estimating.
• Prepare organized takeoff spreadsheets and summaries for estimator review.
• Assist in generating cut lists, part counts, and fabrication-ready information.

3. Collaboration & Communication

• Work closely with estimators, engineers, project managers, and fabricators.
• Request clarifications for missing or unclear details in drawings.
• Provide CAD support during bidding, quoting, and project planning stages.

4. Technical & Production Support

• Assist in preparing fabrication-ready CAD files.
• Identify drawing inconsistencies, clashes, or missing elements.
• Support production planning with accurate technical drawings and data.

5. Documentation & File Management

• Maintain drawing files, revisions, and takeoff documentation.
• Follow proper CAD standards, layering, scaling, and file organization.
• Ensure version control and maintain a structured digital drawing library.

QualificationsRequired Skills

• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD (mandatory).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Good understanding of drafting standards and conventions.
• High attention to detail and accuracy in drawings.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Strong math and measurement skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or any takeoff tools (added advantage).
• Familiarity with metal fabrication, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
• Understanding of materials like steel, aluminum, plate, and sheet metal.
• Experience supporting estimation or engineering teams.

• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Organized and efficient in managing multiple projects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
