Qualifications
- Engineering degree (Bachelor’s at least, a Master’s degree preferred) from a top-tier university. Ideally in a technology topic related to our deeptech investment area (e.g. AI/ML, Cybersecurity, Semiconductor, Advanced manufacturing, Advanced computing, Web3/Blockchain...)
- Must have 5+ years of related work experience in at one or more of the following: roles at a PE/VC/CVC firm, management consulting, operating experience in strategy/business development/finance at a large corporation and/or venture-backed startup
- Experience in working in areas of our core investment focus: Deeptech or Enterprise.
- Natural curiosity about technology and innovation with a drive to understand market and technology trends to help develop market landscapes and innovation thesis
- Strong analytical skills with ample experience in assessing businesses, technologies, financial models, and valuations in both a qualitative and quantitative manner
- Self-driven and motivated with strong interpersonal and solid written and oral communication skills
- Experience managing multiple projects at once while working both independently and as part of a global team

Role
Sony Innovation Fund (SIF) is the Corporate Venture Capital arm of the Sony Group, which has been actively investing since 2016 in breakthrough start-ups across the globe. SIF has a clear mandate to identify, scout and bet on the next horizons for Sony. To date, SIF has invested in 190+ startups in North America, Europe, Israel, Africa, Japan and India covering major ecosystems such as Deeptech, Enterprise, Media&Entertainment, ClimateTech and other emerging technologies. The team oversees two investment vehicles – a $200M off the balance sheet fund for early-stage investments as well as a dedicated ~$250M venture fund comprised of a broad LP base for mid/late-stage investments.
Beyond the core investment activity, SIF team also actively supports the startups to grow their business by providing access to Sony’s business groups, and orchestrating collaboration on the business and technology fronts.
Position:
Associate Manager / Manager
As Sony Innovation Fund is ramping up its investments across the deeptech / enterprise technology space, the team is looking for a driven , passionate and experienced person to join the investment team .This position will be on a h ybrid schedule with 2-3 days per week in the Bangalore office .
Key Responsibilities Include
- Identifying and evaluating emerging industry trends and articulating solid investment thesis based on deep technological, financial, and strategic analysis
- Supporting the entire investment process from sourcing deals to executing investments to value-add activities
- Performing due diligence by evaluating strategic, operational and financial parameters, collaborating with internal and external legal and accounting teams while driving the deal execution
- Collaborating with Sony’s global investment teams to create and regularly update investment theses, industry landscapes and screen the best startups
- Managing and monitoring investments, helping portfolio companies with their strategic and growth prospects, and exploring strategic partnerships between Sony and startups when warranted
- Developing and nurturing strong relations with venture, corporate venture, and entrepreneurial communities
