This strategy is key to the WSP in India Buildings Mechanical Electrical Public Health (MEP) business as we position ourselves to address the challenges of a changing global economy. The role is the cornerstone of the establishment of a MEP Design Capacity in Noida working and adhering to WSP Global standards and promoting technical excellence, in addition to creating and building a team. This will involve recruiting, leading, developing a team of Engineers over a relatively short period of time. The successful candidate will stimulate and manage significant growth in a technically demanding environment to time, cost and quality targets. Cultural awareness, an open mind and excellent communication skills are essential requirements for the role.
- The applicant will have proven experience in the design of Building Services with significant experience in a similar role or demonstration of a good track record.

- Must be conversant with technical mechanical or electrical software, such as IES, Amtech, Hevacomp, Relux and Dialux.
- A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project is essential.

- The applicant should ideally have obtained British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent, possess a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and possess membership to an accredited engineering body.
BGV:
- Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification ( BGV ) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.

A major element of this role is to liaise with the WSP in India design teams to ensure that the following essential elements of the role are satisfactorily completed: -
- Agree and confirm the project brief to anticipate and identify needs and expectations in conjunction with others.
- Agree the project deliverables and programme.
- Agree the resource in India that will be required to undertake the designs to complete the project brief in time and cost.
- Agree the project fees according to brief, resource required and programme.
- Be responsible for the quality of detailed design to WSP in India and Global Building Regulations standards ensuring technical reviews and sign off including complex calculations and co-ordination issues.
- Ensure design are co-ordinated and due consideration of Health & Safety, Construction Design Management and Quality Assurance standards.
- Regularly communicate and update the local Indian and wider Global project teams on programme delivery and quality issues through use of staff utilisation charts and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting etc.
- Review outputs of Computer Aided Design analysis, and determine additional levels of checking needed.
- Where necessary, development of energy strategies incorporating renewable technologies and low energy designs to satisfy local authority planning requirements and compliance with Building Regulations Part L.
- Inform the Commercial Director of Professional Indemnity issues in line with WSP in India policy.
- Ensure all company standards & efficient working practices are adopted.
- Maintain an overview & understanding of the team workload & associated resource requirements, and work with other team leaders to ensure resources are fully utilised, identify & address effectively any surplus or shortfall in available staff
- The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-motivated individual who will take on a Leadership role in project work, focused on delivery to the client and technical excellence.
- The role requires management of a number of projects and becoming involved in design at an early stage.
- The role includes management of fees, invoicing, project-resource management, mentoring and coaching junior members of the team. The ability to plan and design deliverables against British Engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite.
- The role will include a short term secondment to the to visit some of the key WSP in India offices and WSP in India personnel to better understand WSP in India as a business and to assist with acclimatisation to the WSP in India methods of working.
- Lead the design process, set clear goals and monitor their progress closely and encourage the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions to the agreed programme; support those more inexperienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
- Lead from the front accepting design challenges and giving them due consideration with the support of others to achieve resolution.
Establishment and growth of GCC
- Responsible for the recruitment of the design team, in liaison with the Head of GCC
- Contribute to the design of operational processes, systems and measures
- Working with Support Services, the local resources and the other disciplines to ensure that all hardware, software, workspace and IT infrastructure is in place
- Provide the technical training, mentoring and support to members of the new team, ensuring that the team is capable in the use of the required standards, processes and software tools at the earliest opportunity.
- Provide highly visible, inspirational leadership and direction for the emerging Buildings team, ensuring the Noida based team feel part of the wider team
- Liaise with the established leadership of the GCC facility across the globe.

Technical and Project Management
- Raise the level of technical competence within the teams
- Implement delivery and quality measurement processes
- Agree Key Performance Indicators (KPI s) with the Head of GCC monitoring and regularly reporting. Identify and implement improvements to increase KPIs accordingly
- Promote technical excellence in all our projects
- Undertake technical reviews and contribute to the concept design
- Provide continuous feedback to the Head of GCC on the effectiveness of the protocols and processes in place with a view to continuous improvement
Commercial
- Implement the project delivery systems and structures
- Support management of resource requirements versus project requirements
- Support liaison with UK business to drive up utilisation of GCC team
- Support and advise UK on implementation of GCC within fee bid
