Job Description

We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager - Welding Engineering to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing and optimizing welding operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency. You'll play a crucial part in developing and implementing welding procedures, qualifying personnel, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Manage Welder Qualifications (WQ) and Operator Qualifications (OQ), ensuring all welding personnel are certified and proficient.
  • Provide expert guidance on various welding processes, including but not limited to SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and SAW.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of welding materials (e.g., carbon steel, high strength quenched and tempered steel, TMCP Steels, stainless steel, Etc.,) and their properties.
  • Oversee the testing and selection of welding consumables, ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
  • Implement and maintain robust welding inspection protocols, including visual inspection, NDT coordination, and documentation.
  • Troubleshoot welding-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production, quality control, and design teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in welding engineering.
  • Knowledge in failure analysis
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and welding personnel.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 9 to 12 years of progressive experience in welding engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of various welding processes, materials, and consumables.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of welding testing & inspection techniques

Preferred Certifications (beneficial):

  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
  • CSWIP (Certified Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel)
  • IIW Certifications- IWT/IWE
