Assistant Manager Safety

As an Assistant Manager Safety, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of the site/project by implementing and monitoring safety procedures. Your responsibilities will include: - Assisting in developing, reviewing, and implementing site-specific HSE plans, method statements, job safety analysis (JSA/JHA), and risk assessments. - Ensuring compliance with legal requirements, client standards, and international codes such as OSHA, ISO 45001, and OHSAS. - Establishing emergency response procedures, conducting mock drills, and maintaining preparedness. - Conducting routine site inspections, audits, and walk-downs to report unsafe conditions with actionable recommendations. - Verifying and approving work permits (PTW) for high-risk activities and monitoring critical equipment for safety compliance. - Conducting toolbox talks, induction training, and competency assessments for workers and subcontractors. - Leading incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, and developing corrective & preventive action plans. - Maintaining safety records, permits, checklists, inspection logs, and safety KPI data. - Coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, client HSE teams, and vendors to implement best HSE practices. Key Skills & Competencies: - Strong knowledge of construction safety procedures, risk assessment, and PTW systems. - Excellent communication, leadership, and training ability. - Analytical thinking for incident investigation and RCA. - Ability to build a safety culture among a diverse workforce. Qualifications Required: - Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical) or relevant technical field. - Mandatory Safety Certifications: ADIS / PDIS / NEBOSH IGC / IOSH / Diploma in Safety (1-year). - Additional certifications such as First Aid, Fire Safety, Scaffold Inspector, Lifting Supervisor are advantageous. Experience: - 12+ years in construction safety for high-rise buildings, industrial projects, infrastructure, or commercial/residential projects.
