Job Overview

The Assistant Manager (R&D) for Ice Cream will be responsible for supporting the research, development, & improvement of new & existing ice cream products. This role involves leading innovation projects, managing product formulations & testing, & ensuring compliance with quality & regulatory standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• PhD (Dairy Technology / Food Technology ) with 23 years of relevant industrial R&D / Product Development experience in ice cream industry
• MTech / M.E / M.Sc. with 89 years of industrial R&D / product development experience in ice cream industry

Key Responsibilities

• New Product Development

  : identifying potential new flavors, trends (e.g., healthy, natural ingredients, exotic flavors), or product types (e.g., vegan, low-fat) based on consumer demand & market gaps. Competitor analysis is crucial at this stage.

• Formulation & Processing:

  Develop product specifications, formulations, & standard operating procedures (SOPs). Plan & execute experiments at the pilot scale & manage scale-up for main plant production.

• Quality & Cost Optimization:

  Conduct research to improve the quality, cost-efficiency, or performance of existing products, including raw & packaging material savings initiatives.

• Collaboration:

  Work closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, Procurement, & Quality Assurance to ensure products meet customer needs & are produced efficiently.

• Testing & Analysis:

  Develop & execute product testing plans, including stability & compatibility testing, & interpret results to provide actionable insights.

• Regulatory Compliance:

  Ensure compliance with all food industry regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, FSSAI, ISO standards) & maintain necessary documentation & reports for audits.

• Team Leadership:

  Provide technical guidance & mentorship to junior R&D team members & support the R&D Manager in day-to-day team management activities.
