Job Description

Position Title:

Role Overview

The Assistant Manager / Deputy Manager – Legal will be responsible for managing non-litigation legal functions including contract drafting, review, and negotiation; compliance monitoring; legal documentation; and process governance. The role focuses on ensuring effective contract management, adherence to regulatory requirements, and timely legal support to business and functional teams across NACL Industries Limited and its group companies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, MoUs, NDAs, service contracts, vendor agreements, and other business documents.
  • Ensure all contracts are legally sound, compliant with internal policies, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Maintain and regularly update a centralized digital repository of executed agreements.
  • Track renewals, expiries, and ensure timely closure of contract-related actions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline contract templates and approval processes.

2. Compliance Management

  • Monitor and manage statutory and regulatory compliances across the organization using tools such as Legatrix or similar systems.
  • Assist in periodic compliance reporting, internal audits, and review of governance processes.
  • Stay updated on changes in applicable laws and regulations, and circulate updates to relevant departments.
  • Support the Head – Legal in strengthening compliance frameworks and internal controls.

3. Legal Advisory & Documentation

  • Provide quick legal opinions and support for business proposals, transactions, and day-to-day operations.
  • Prepare and review internal policies, SOPs, and governance documents in coordination with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure all documentation and approvals are in line with company policy and statutory requirements.
  • Support initiatives for automation and digitization of legal and compliance processes.

4. Training & Awareness

  • Assist in conducting internal training sessions on legal, compliance, and contract management topics.
  • Promote awareness on compliance obligations and policy adherence among employees.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    LLB / LLM from a reputed institution.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of post-qualification experience in legal functions focusing on non-litigation, contracts, and compliance. Experience in manufacturing, agrochemicals, or specialty chemicals industries preferred.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of contract law and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in legal drafting, vetting, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with legal tech tools and digital repositories.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
