Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    This role is responsible to ensure the efficient and reliable Protection testing of the Generator, Switchyard equipment, Power Transformers, HT/LT breakers and other associated equipment. This role is pivotal in upholding safety, environmental compliance, and sustainability standards while driving process improvements and innovation. This role is responsible for coordinating with stakeholders and embracing Digitalization and automation to enhance operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Lead Electrical Boiler/Turbine/Generator Maintenance Execution and Reliability: Execute Protection testing activities for the 220/400 KV Switchyard relays, Line Protection relays, Generator Protection relays, Transformer/Motor/Feeder Protection relays. Able to troubleshoot electrical equipment failure with exact root cause. Having experience in various software for communications of protection relays like PCM600 ,SIPROTEC(DIGSI) ,S1 AGILE .etc. Identify exact fault cause with study of disturbance records for protection relays. Execute testing of HT/LT Breakers/protection release. Must be capable of handling and managing testing of electrical equipment during AOH or COH and generate its report. Conduct annual (AOH) and comprehensive (COH) overhauling and manage testing activities during outages, focusing on safe, timely, and efficient project completion within budgets and allotted manpower. Troubleshoot equipment failures and conduct equipment failure analysis to prevent recurrence and improve system reliability. Process Improvement and Innovation: Identify and act on opportunities for process and system enhancements to meet evolving operational needs and directives from leadership. Regularly updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Standard Maintenance Plans (SMPs) to reflect current best practices and operational requirements. Ensure the effective use of SAP for tracking maintenance activities, managing spare parts inventory, and ensuring the timely closure of notifications. Provide accurate and timely information for Necessary Formal Approvals (NFAs) for license renewals and contribute to the preparation of comprehensive reports for RCA, FMEA, ZFO, and technical audits. Implement actionable as per Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Management of Change (MoC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Zero Forced Outage (ZFO) reports to prevent incidents and improve safety outcomes. Maintenance Standards and specifications: Provide information/support for communications with the govt. agencies such as SLDC, WRLDC, ALDC, NRLDC and other regulatory authorities for Energy meters. Support Team Leads in quality assurance processes, ensuring that materials and equipment procured meet specified standards and contribute to operational excellence. Allocate work areas to business associates efficiently, ensuring optimal use of resources and adherence to testing schedules. Assist Team Leads with attendance and quantity verification to ensure accurate record-keeping and accountability. Prepare detailed reports for Annual Overhaul (AOH) and Capital Overhaul (COH), as directed by Team Leads and Section Heads, to document maintenance activities and outcomes. Support Team Leads in the execution of performance metrics and the preparation of requirements for equipment and services for budget preparation. Provide training and development requirements to Team Leads for development of business associates. Business Sustainability: Implement and Follow IMS, AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, CHETNA guidelines, and other environmental and safety protocols to ensure a sustainable and safe workplace. Maintain compliance with all legal and statutory requirements, including timely renewal of electrical licenses and certifications. Conduct safety training for all business associates and employees, ensuring a high level of safety awareness and competence across the department. Maintain meticulous records of all equipment histories, ensuring that any issues are documented and learnings are applied to future operations. Inventory Management: Assist in the spares inventory management and development of vital indigenous spares associated area. Ensure the availability and reliability of all spares of relays for BTG equipment and systems. Create PRs for materials and services and follow up with Techno commercial team for procurement and contracts awarding and end-to-end closing of process. Prepare SES (Service Entry Sheets) for completed services and tracking of payment cycle. Digitalization and Automation: Support comprehensive Digitalization strategies to optimize operational efficiency. Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals / strategy. Key Stakeholders - Internal: All Departments Head Office ENDORSE Service depts. Techno Commercial Key Stakeholders - External: Vendors Contractors - Material and services

    ESP (Electro Static Precipitators)-APL,Electrical Control Systems-APL,Electrical Maintenance Management-APL,HT and LT Motors-APL,HT and LT Switchgears-APL,Knowledge of Generator and Excitation Systems-APL,Knowledge of Protection Systems-APL,Regulatory Compliance-APL,Safety Management-APL,Testing and Parameter Monitoring-APL

Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: BE/B. Tech in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred. Work Experience: 7+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within power generation or a related heavy industry. Preferred Industry: Experience in the power sector, specifically with expertise in the maintenance of Boiler, Turbine, and Generator (BTG) equipment, is highly desirable.
