The opportunity: You will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current), a business unit within Hitachi Energy located in Chennai. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. Lead commissioning activities for switchgear, CT/PTs, GIS/AIS bays, FOTE panels, SCADA, protection & control relay panels, and metering systems. Review and validate method statements, FAT reports, SAT plans, and pre-commissioning checklists. Ensure adherence to CEA guidelines, CBIP standards, IE rules, and relevant power utility specifications. Supervise third-party test engineers conducting HV/EHV testing (Primary/Secondary injection, Relay settings, SCADA interlocks, etc.). Interface with OEMs for specialized testing (e.g., CT testing, GIS SF6 gas checks, DFR, DR reports). Coordinate with state transmission utility (STU) / PGCIL for approvals, joint testing, and grid compliance protocols. Prepare and maintain test reports, NCRs, and commissioning progress documentation. Support project and engineering teams in resolving interface or synchronization issues. Drive HSE compliance during live testing and pre-energization work.
