As a Kitchen Commis 1, you will be a senior-level entry position within the kitchen brigade, one step above a commis 2 or an apprentice. Having gained experience in the kitchen and developed foundational cooking skills, you are expected to be more independent in your duties and capable of handling complex tasks. Key Responsibilities: - Food Preparation & Cooking: You will be responsible for preparing ingredients and cooking simple dishes or components of a meal under supervision. Tasks may include grilling, sauting, frying, or other basic cooking techniques. - Assisting Chefs: Your role involves rotating through different kitchen stations and providing support where needed, such as the grill, pastry, sauce, or vegetable sections. - Maintaining Quality Control: It is crucial to ensure that food is prepared and cooked to the establishment's standards, following recipes and portion sizes precisely. - Cleaning and Organization: Keeping your station clean, organized, and sanitized is part of your responsibilities. This includes cleaning tools, equipment, countertops, and upholding safety and hygiene standards. - Stock Management: Assist in managing inventory by ensuring proper storage of ingredients, using them within their shelf life, and notifying supervisors when stocks are low.
