About the Project

JICA-supported Aquaculture Promotion and Livelihood Improvement Project

Key Responsibilities

• Provide

  technical leadership

  in aquaculture development, including pond management, seed and feed quality, hatchery operations, and fish health management.
• Design and implement strategies to

  enhance productivity, profitability, and sustainability

  of aquaculture practices.
• Support the formation and strengthening of

  community-based aquaculture groups, SHGs, cooperatives, and producer organizations

  .
• Promote

  climate-smart and environmentally sustainable aquaculture practices

  to improve resilience.
• Conduct

  training, capacity building, and extension activities

  for farmers, producer groups, and field staff.
• Provide guidance on

  post-harvest handling, value addition, and storage

  to reduce losses and improve market competitiveness.
• Work closely with

  value chain, livelihood, and market linkage experts

  to ensure an integrated approach.
• Collaborate with government agencies, research institutions, and private sector actors to strengthen technical and institutional support.
• Prepare

  progress reports, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing materials

  in alignment with JICA’s monitoring and evaluation framework.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s degree

  in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Zoology, Rural Development, or related discipline from a recognized institution.

• 10+ years of professional experience

  in aquaculture development, fisheries management, or rural livelihood projects.
• Strong expertise in

  smallholder aquaculture systems, sustainable farming practices, and resource management

  .
• Experience in

  internationally funded or JICA-supported development projects

  is highly desirable.
• Proven capacity in

  community mobilization, institutional development, and training

  .
• Excellent communication, facilitation, and reporting skills. Proficiency in English is essential; knowledge of Assamese/local languages is an advantage.

• Contract Duration:

  44 months (extendable).

• Workplace:

  Onsite, Assam (extensive field engagement).

• Remuneration:

  Competitive, based on qualifications and experience.
