We’re Hiring: API Evangelist / API Subject Matter Expert (10+ Years Experience)

Role Purpose:

As an API Evangelist, you will be responsible for shaping our API strategy, educating internal and external stakeholders, and providing expertise in API development and integration. Your role will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring best practices for building robust, scalable, and secure APIs.

Key Responsibilities:

API Strategy & Governance:

•Develop and implement a comprehensive API strategy across the organization, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology vision.

•Establish and enforce API governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to standards, security, and scalability.

•Define the API development lifecycle and lead the execution of best practices in design, development, deployment, and maintenance.

API Evangelism & Advocacy:

•Serve as a thought leader and evangelist for API best practices, including RESTful, GraphQL, and SOAP APIs.

•Advocate for the API-first approach and guide teams in understanding and adopting API-centric development.

•Provide regular workshops, training sessions, and consulting to internal teams on API design, security, and integration standards.

Technical Leadership:

•Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for API technologies, providing deep technical knowledge in areas such as API management platforms, microservices, OAuth, JWT, and API security.

•Collaborate with engineering teams to design scalable and secure API architectures.

•Lead technical discussions and reviews, ensuring best practices for performance, scalability, and security are followed.

API Integration & Innovation:

•Lead the integration of APIs into enterprise systems, driving digital transformation and improving business agility.

•Ensure seamless integration with third-party systems and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.

•Drive API innovation by researching and implementing emerging technologies, such as serverless and event-driven architectures.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement:

•Work closely with clients, product managers, and business stakeholders to understand API requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.

•Provide consulting services for key customers, ensuring that their API needs are met with customized, scalable solutions.

Mandatory Skills:

•10+ years of experience in API management, design, and integration.

•Strong expertise in RESTful APIs, GraphQL, SOAP, and API security protocols like OAuth and JWT.

•Experience with API management platforms like Apigee, MuleSoft, Kong, or AWS API Gateway.

•Expertise in microservices architecture and serverless architectures.

•Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

•Strong leadership and evangelism skills to advocate for API-first development practices across teams.

•Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

•Excellent communication, presentation, and mentoring skills.
