Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) is a joint initiative of the Government of Assam and Tata Trusts, aiming to provide accessible and affordable cancer care through the largest three-tiered cancer care network in South Asia. With eight operational hospitals in different districts and more under construction, ACCF ensures world-class cancer care with cashless treatments under central and state healthcare schemes like PMJAY and MMJAY. Facilities are digitally enabled by the Digital Nerve Centre in Guwahati, connecting hospitals in real time for efficient virtual care and communication.
This is a full-time, on-site role for an Anaesthetist cum Intensivist located in Silchar. The Anaesthetist cum Intensivist will be responsible for providing anesthesia and critical care services for a range of surgical procedures and treatments. Tasks include administering general anesthesia, monitoring patients during surgery, managing pain post-surgery, and delivering critical care medicine to patients with serious health conditions. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals is essential to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
1. Manage pre-surgical fitness, induction of maintenance of anaesthesia, post op monitoring and recovery.
2. Collaborate with the surgical and medical teams to provide critical care coverage, administration of anaesthesia and palliative care procedures.
3. Monitor patient before, during, and after anaesthesia and counteract adverse reactions or complications.
4. To supervise the anaesthesia/interventional pain management team and striving to provide quality care in an efficient, cost-effective manner.
5. To ensure Time out in OT.
6. Apart from preoperative care, he/she should be involved in a range of other medical procedures like lumbar puncture, central line insertions, picc line access, port access, pleural and peritoneal tapings. Should also be able to carry out assessments in critical care units.
7. Should also be involved in dealing with emergency, attend to emergency in ER or other areas including code blue and critical care situations.
8. Providing and maintaining life support and airway management and helping patients to prepare for emergency surgery.
9. To help in the operations and management of posting of cases in the OT and help in smooth functioning of OT flow as and when asked by the management.
10. Implementing advanced life support techniques.
11. Examining patients, obtain medical history, and use diagnostic tests to determine risk during surgical and other medical procedures.
12. Position patients on operating table to maximize patient comfort and surgical accessibility.
13. To decide when patients have recovered or stabilized enough to be sent to another room or ward or to be sent home following outpatient surgery.
14. To confer with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anaesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain.
15. To prescribe for a laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic procedures as and when necessary and also prescribe medications.
16. To always maintain strict patient confidentiality.
17. To practice good infection control.
18. To prevent and report medical errors.
19. To practice safe sharps and biohazard handling and disposal.
20. To impart training of all staff for ICU Management, maintain infection control, Air way management etc. Training expertise should include Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, interventional pain management, etc. and to participate in Continuing Medical Education Programme.
21. Ensuring continuous medical cover for all patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, High dependency unit thorough assessments of critically ill patients and formulate comprehensive treatment plans in consultation with admission consultant/surgeon/physician.
22. Carrying all technical procedures like emergency cardioversion defibrillation, CPR Management, Catheterization, Invasive Ventilation, ventilatory management etc. He/She should Supervise and manage the care of ICU patients, including mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic support, and other advanced life support measures and as per the criticality he/she should continuously maintain ccommunication with patient's
relatives, referring hospital etc.
23. Training all staff for ICU Management, maintain infection control, Air way management etc.
24. Conduct invasive procedures when necessary, including central venous catheter placement and intubation.
25. Stay current with the latest advancements in critical care medicine through ongoing education and professional development.
26. To lead in quality initiatives like NABH, clinical audits, code blue, committee meetings etc and ccontribute to quality improvement initiatives by actively participating in clinical audits and research activities. He/She should assist in the development and implementation of evidence-based protocols and guidelines.
