Within EY’s FSO Advisory Practice, the Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) group provides solutions that can help FSO clients to identify, measure, manage and monitor the market (trading book), credit (banking book), operational, and regulatory risks associated with their trading, asset-liability management, capital management and other capital markets activities. Within FSRM, the Market Risk (MR) team assists clients to design and implement strategic and functional changes across risk management, treasury, front office, middle office, and back office activities with a focus on risk and valuation processes, regulatory compliance, analytics, strategy, and organizational structure. Practical implementation knowledge of risk and capital management is a key competency of MR, focused on regulatory capital, market and counterparty credit risk management and broker-dealer capital requirements. Clients include large domestic and global financial institutions, broker-dealers, foreign banking organizations, asset management firms and insurance companies with significant capital markets activities. Project teams frequently work with the senior management of these firms, including CFOs and CROs Skills And Attributes For Success Demonstrate deep technical capability and industry knowledge of financial products Lead components of large-scale client engagements and/or smaller client engagements while consistently delivering quality client services Understand market trends and demands in the financial services sector and issues faced by clients by staying abreast of current business and industry trends relevant to the client's business Monitor progress, manage risk, and effectively communicate with key stakeholders regarding status, issues and key priorities to achieve expected outcomes Play an active role in mentoring junior consultants within the organization To qualify for the role, you should have : Deep knowledge of new policies and procedures, including controls for managing: Market manipulation Risk: Algo Trading, Wash Trades etc. Trade Data Risk: Stop-Loss Triggers, Fix Manipulation etc. Suspicious Transactions: Insider Dealing, Partial Fills, Front Running, Best Execution etc. The candidate should have a thorough understanding of Market Abuse Regulations, including key legislative frameworks such as MiFID II, UK MAR, Dodd-Frank Act, and EU MAR. Escalating unreasonable rationale or pattern of suspicious activity to management. Monitor emails to identify potential market abuse or violations of policy. Conduct a thorough analysis on the fundamental research data collected by the trading groups through their interactions with external industry The candidate should possess practical experience with internationally recognized Trade Surveillance platforms, including but not limited to NICE Actimize, B Next, and Aquis. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of financial information systems like Bloomberg and Reuters, with familiarity in navigating various interface screens such as CACT, HCPI, ANR, among others. Able to design, implement, and oversee a suite of surveillances designed to detect behaviours that may violate regulatory rules or internal policies and procedures. Escalate anomalies, fraud activity and working collaboratively with senior management across the first and second lines of defence to determine the appropriate resolution of the matter. Deep understanding of market dynamics or market operation e.g. How an orderbook functions (Bid / Ask spread), Price levels etc. Review and analysis of surveillance alerts and/or reports relating to firm, employee, and client trading activity. Properly documenting the review and disposition of the exceptions as well as escalating matters appropriately. Assisting on inquiries received from governmental and exchange regulatory bodies. Supporting the client in evaluating surveillance results for potential problems, communicating surveillance findings to management. Able to assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, engineering or a related discipline and more than 2 years of related/relevant work experience; or a Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Management or a related field and approximately 3-7 years of work experience in the Financial Services industry. Should have more than 3 years of experience in market or trade surveillance. Preparation of reports and studies on market movements Some knowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be a self-starter, flexible, innovative and adaptive. Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and with people at all levels of the organization Strong project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects at one time Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Good-to-have: Certifications such as FRM, CQF, CFA, PRM Proficient knowledge of the Bloomberg terminal and its various functionalities, including the ability to navigate and utilize screens such as HCPI (Historical Price Comparison Interface), ANR (Analyst Recommendations), and other relevant interfaces within the Bloomberg suite. Hands on experience with industry-recognized Trade Surveillance systems, including but not limited to NICE Actimize, Aquis Exchange, and B Next.
