Job
Description
You will join a tight-knit character team that turns lovingly stylised models into expressive, laugh-out-loud performances for our cross-platform kids-and-family game and companion shorts. Success looks like delivering polished, personality-rich shots on schedule, absorbing advanced techniques from senior mentors, and steadily levelling-up our Maya ↔ Blender ↔ Unreal/Unity pipeline. Every scene you animate directly shapes the studio’s mission to achieve Pixar-calibre charm on an indie cadence without crunch. This is a paid internship at ₹15,000/month. Responsibilities Animate personality-driven shots (2 – 12 s) from rough blocking through final polish, applying the 12 Principles, snappy comedic timing, fluid weight-shifts, and clear silhouettes. Author & refine reusable motions —run, swim, jump, emotes—optimised for 60 fps real-time playback; export clean FBXs with zero key-mismatch or scale errors. Stage cameras and basic previs to communicate intent, staging, and timing before full production. Tweak and integrate motion-capture (Rokoko, Xsens, or outsourced) when appropriate, retargeting to our custom rigs and adding key-frame flair. Collaborate with modeling & rigging teams—flagging skin-weight or control issues, suggesting deformation fixes, helping test new rig iterations. Iterate fast on feedback —track notes in ShotGrid/Jira, sync changes to Perforce branches, and push daily play-blasts for review. Maintain the animation library —tag, categorise, and version moves so seniors and peers can kitbash performances efficiently. Prototype small Python/MEL utilities (e.g., auto-naming takeExporter, curve cleaner) that shave minutes from repetitive tasks. Adhere to inclusive team culture —offer constructive critiques, cheer successes, and foster a learning-first environment. Qualifications Portfolio or demo reel highlighting stylised key-frame work with solid posing, arcs, and timing; brief shot breakdowns required. Comfort in Maya or Blender —graph-editor fluency, IK/FK switching, constraint parenting, and non-destructive animation layers. Foundational anatomy, acting, and lip-sync knowledge ; can push exaggeration without sacrificing believable weight. Introductory real-time experience —importing characters into Unreal or Unity, troubleshooting root-motion, LODs, and blend-spaces. Basic rig-savvy —understands joint hierarchies, deformation order, and can edit skin weights or shape keys when asked. Exposure to motion-capture pipelines —HIK retargeting, timecode syncing, and curve cleanup (nice to have, not mandatory). Scripting familiarity —can read and modify short Python/MEL snippets to automate exports or naming conventions. Version-control awareness —Perforce, Git-LFS, or similar. Excellent spoken & written English —clear stand-up updates, concise shot-status comments. Growth mindset —hungry to master facial performance, creature mechanics, and camera language under senior guidance. Bonus points for 2-D gesture sketching, Houdini crowd fundamentals, or personal game projects showcasing animation integration. Bonus Experience Know your way around AI tools for 3D modeling Interview Process (<3 days) 1 x Phone Screen | 10 mins 1 x Technical Interview | 1 hour Note: This is a 3-month internship, with the potential to turn into a full-time job.
