Job Description

The Workplace Design Director will provide strategic, creative, and operational leadership to the Workplace Design Studio at Thomas Associates. The ideal candidate brings over 15 years of experience in workplace interiors or relevant fields, demonstrated design excellence, and a proven ability to lead teams and projects from concept to completion.

Desired profile of the candidate

  • Lead the studios design direction, setting and maintaining high standards of creativity and technical excellence across all projects.
  • Oversee every project stage, ensuring clear tracking of milestones, deliverables, and resources for initiation, concept development, detailed design, implementation, and project close-out.
  • Maintain meticulous records and systems for work stages and billing; ensure timely invoicing and collections in collaboration with accounts and project managers for maximum profitability.
  • Guide and mentor designers, leveraging deep industry experience to develop talent, drive innovation, and support ongoing learning.
  • Act as a senior interface with clients; translate briefs into effective project plans, maintain active communication, and foster lasting relationships.
  • Support Thomas Associates wider business strategy by collaborating with business development, marketing, and account management teams to pursue new opportunities and increase market share.
  • Champion sustainable, client-centric design solutions in all deliverables, aligning with contemporary workplace trends, codes, and industry best practices.
  • Drive studio growth by monitoring project profitability, identifying new business opportunities, and adapting to evolving market and client requirements.
  • Stay updated on workplace design, technology, and global strategic shifts, incorporating relevant innovations into studio operations and design thinking.

Experience :

  • 15+ years experience in workplace design, architecture, or interiors, with significant exposure to leading teams and overseeing projects from start to finish.
  • Strong track record of managing studio operations, including detailed tracking of project stages and billing.
  • Proficient in design software and project management tools.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.

Qualification

Academic

Proficiency with Autocad, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Excel, Powerpoint etc.

Technical / Professional

B.Arch., Interior or related discipline

Licensed or registered Architect
