Due to continued growth, we are now seeking a Lead Web Developer to join our existing DevOps team. PLS are a modern law firm who specialise in property law.

The successful candidate will have in depth Web Development and app development experience, ideally with experience within a similar conveyancing firm. Knowledge of conveyancing would be advantageous. Previous leadership experience would be advantageous.

Duties

·        Be able to develop a bespoke WordPress site informed by clear and comprehensive Figma designs.

·        Write clean, well-structured PHP to build custom themes, layouts, and components tailored to the needs of the business.

·        Create a content management experience that’s logical, reliable, and easy for non-technical team members to use.

·        Implement reusable templates, fields and content blocks that allow for flexible content updates without compromising design integrity.

·        Collaborate closely with stakeholders across design and content to deliver a site that works as well behind the scenes as it does on the front end.

·        Ensure the site performs well across devices, browsers, and meets essential standards for accessibility, SEO and speed.

·        Provide input on structure and functionality decisions where helpful, with a view to long-term maintainability.

·        Understanding of WordPress performance optimisation and Core Web Vitals.

·        Experience with Git and modern development workflows.

·        An eye for clean UX and accessible front-end behaviour (e.g. WCAG basics).

·        Comfortable suggesting technical improvements when appropriate, but always respectful of design and content priorities.

Training & Development

·        You will ensure that you fully understand and adhere to all the relevant company policies and procedures as set out on the Training Portal and the Company Intranet

·        You will undertake all training and reading allocated to you on the Training Portal (Access Training) in the timescales set by the Training Team

·        You will ensure you attend all other training sessions that are rolled out to you by the Training Team

·        You will ensure that your training record is kept fully up to date

Essential Skills

·        Strong experience building custom WordPress sites from scratch using PHP and WordPress theme development best practices.

·        Proficient in front-end development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (or jQuery), and responsive layouts.

·        Demonstrable experience converting Figma (or similar) designs into accurate, production-ready WordPress themes.

·        Familiarity with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF), Custom Post Types, and the Gutenberg editor.

·        A solid grasp of how to structure admin interfaces and editing workflows in a way that’s clear, robust and user-friendly.

·        Ability to take a thoughtful, maintainable approach to development – planning for future content and feature updates.
