Job Description

  • Review customer drawings, specifications, and Quality Assurance Plans (QAPs) to identify inspection requirements, tolerances, and acceptance criteria.
  • Capture and document key requirements such as inspection checkpoints, hold points, and special characteristics.
  • Verify that all required documents WPS, PQR, WPQ, and Material Test Certificates (MTCs)are approved and available prior to fabrication
  • Ensure drawing revisions, standards (AWS / ASME / ISO), and customer-specific inspection plans and Inspection & Test Plans(ITPs)
  • Support preparation, review, and updating of ITPs and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
  • Support the Quality Engineer in identifying Product and Process Characteristics (Critical /Significant Characteristics)..
  • Contribute to Process FMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP documentation from inspection perspective.
  • Define and validate inspection methods, tools, gauges, and measurement systems (MSA) as part of APQP deliverables.
  • Perform in-process, layout, and final inspection of fabricated parts and weldments using calibrated measuring instruments (Vernier, micrometer, height gauge, CMM, etc.).
  • Verify critical dimensions, profiles, flatness, alignment, and tolerances against approved drawings.
  • Identify, segregate, and report non-conforming parts promptly.
  • Conduct pre-weld, in-process, and post-weld inspections per AWS D1.1 / ASME Section IX /customer requirements including Visual and Non-Destructive Testing (Dye Penetrant and UT)
  • Verify joint preparation, fit-up, consumables, parameters, and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor preheat, interpass, and post-weld heat treatment requirements.
  • Prepare inspection reports, checklists, and quality records as per internal and customer formats.
  • Review and compile all documents (FAI / PPAP / ITP / QAP / NDT reports / MTCs) for submission.
  • Record NCRs, CARs, and assist in root cause analysis and closure documentation.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) by AWS / CSWIP or any recognized welding institute.
  • Strong understanding of AWS, ASME, and other relevant codes and standards governing welding processes and inspections..
  • Proficiency in welding processes, techniques, materials, and equipment used in various Welding applications.
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and techniques, as well as relevant certifications (e.g., ASNT Level II).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and customer.
  • experience in welding inspection, quality assurance/control, or a

related field, preferably in industries such as aerospace manufacturing.
